Bamboo Organ Festival Update for 2007 The Bamboo Organ Foundation, Inc. is now busy preparing for the 32nd edition of the International Bamboo Organ Festival scheduled on February 22 to March 1, 2007. The opening concert on February 22 is entitled BAROQUE MASTERS and will showcase Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 for piano four hands with Ana Maria G. de Guzman and Najib Ismail; Scarlatti Sonatas for two guitars with Sixto E. Roxas and Ruben Reyes; and Bach's Cantata no. 52 with Soprano Camille Lopez-Molina, the Las Piñas Boys Choir and the Festival Ensemble conducted by Jonathan Velasco. CONCERT UNDER THE TREES on February 24 will be highlighted by a performance from our local pop artists, traditionally presented specially for the local parishioners. Dalibor Miklavcic , an international organist from Slovenia will be the featured performer for AN EVENING OF ORGAN MUSIC on February 26. FIESTA MUSIKA will focus on the music of National Artist Maestro Lucio San Pedro, marking the 5th anniversary of his death. Featured performers are Soprano Camille Lopez-Molina, Vienna-based tenor Abdul Candao, Las Piñas' homegrown talents like the BSJ Quintet, Diego Cera Trio and the Las Piñas Boys Choir. The closing concert on March 1 pays tribute to St. Cecilia , patroness of music, with compositions written in her honor by Britten and Handel, to be performed by the Ateneo Chamber Singers conducted by Jonathan Velasco, with soloists Camille Lopez-Molina and Abdul Candao. Through the support of our parishioners and those involved in the cultural preservation of our heritage especially those corporations and private individuals we rely on our existence and the Festival really exists because of the efforts of the Foundation itself. However, the cost in putting up this yearly musical event has become so expensive because of the hard times but these would not prevent us in fulfilling our duty to present this annual event, the only music festival recognized in the world coming from the Philippines. Is it in this line that we appeal for support from our friends here and abroad for financial assistance. The 32nd edition would cost about P2.5M for operational expenses. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and we hope that through this effort, we will be able to unite all our “kababayans” in distant places and other music enthusiasts.
